THE PLDT Enterprise and Smart Communications, Inc. partnered with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) XI to conduct a digitalization program among micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Davao City on Aug. 2.
The activity aimed to strengthen and enhance 90 business owners’ digital skills, especially in content creation and product promotions through TikTok Shop Philippines, an e-commerce platform.
In a statement, Jinky Francisco, PLDT Enterprise SMBiz VisMin head, said out of the 99.6% of total businesses in the country that are MSMEs, only 6% surveyed utilized digital tools.
“This means that a lot of us need to evolve into digital space. Our commitment is to support you both digitally and physically,” Francisco said.
The effort is part of PLDT and Smart’s eBizNovation program, which aims to leverage digital technologies to develop and improve the lives and livelihoods of communities across the country.
Rachel Remetio, DTI XI city director, said MSMEs should “innovate and take advantage of the different services and platforms amid the rapid technological changes.”
“We in the Department of Trade and Industry leverage so much on collaboration, that’s why, we are thankful for the partnership with PLDT, Smart, Maya, and TikTok Shop,” Remetio added.
The activity is also in line with the country’s commitment to supporting the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly No Poverty, gender equality, and Decent Work and Economic Growth.
