THIS YEAR’s Philippine Eagle Week national celebration comes to Davao City to pay tribute to the Indigenous Peoples and environmental advocates preserving Mt. Apo and the natural habitat of these apex raptors.
The event places the critically endangered eagle at center stage, tackling all relevant issues surrounding the bird of prey, along with its hunting and breeding grounds that are vital to its survivability.
Irick Francisco, Philippine Eagle Foundation (PEF) communications officer, shared that indigenous youth artists, who introduced conservation practices to the younger generation, will be invited for the PEW.

Activities will commence at the Philippine Eagle Center (PEC) from June 4 to 10, June 5 at SM City Cabanatuan in Luzon, and finally June 9 to 11 at SM City Davao, which includes exhibits, opening ceremonies, workshops, film viewing, and others.PEF recently held an Indigenous Resource Governance Summit 2025 last May 28 on biodiversity conservation and Mt. Apo’s protection.
PEW is also part of the Duaw Dabaw 2025 celebration, which includes a tour of the Philippine Eagle Center as one of its major activities for the “Definitely Davao City Tour.”
“So kasali ang Philippine Eagle, first stop sila actually. This tour is a way of introducing Davao City to our visitors, even the locals,” Gracie Plata of the City Tourism Operations Office said at the Kapehan sa Dabaw on June 2.
