Philippine Army assures non-partisanship amid upcoming 2025 midterm polls

AS THE filing of certificates of candidacy ended, the Philippine Army assured the Filipino people of its commitment to protect the sanctity of the electoral process.

“We also remind all our personnel to remain non-partisan in strict adherence to our constitutional mandate,” Army spokesperson Col Louie Dema-ala said.

The Philippine Army will maintain the highest standards of professionalism, discipline, and integrity as it looks forward to safe, orderly, and peaceful elections in 2025.

On Wednesday, the Eastern Mindanao Command (EastMinCom) stated that security forces are prepared for any eventuality following reports of five individuals injured in Shariff Aguak, Maguindanao del Sur, following tensions on Tuesday, the last day for filing certificates of candidacy (COC) for the 2025 mid-term elections.

“With that, the entire area under the Eastern Mindanao Command is always ready,” said Major Salvacion Evangelista, spokesperson for EastMinCom, during Wednesday’s Davao Peace and Security press conference at The Royal Mandaya Hotel.

“Regarding preventive measures, the discipline of the soldiers is included. We are maximizing our security patrols and coordination with other security agencies,” Salvacion noted.

“This will help ensure order in the event of incidents,” she added.

“Our current focus is on implementing checkpoint operations in partnership with the PNP. We are leveraging these measures to prevent any malicious groups from entering or exiting our area of responsibility,” she further stated.
