THE COAST Guard District Southeastern Mindanao (CGDSEM) is gearing up to host the Coast Guard ASEAN forum in Davao City and the Island Garden of Samal from June 4 to 7.
Commodore Richard Marfe anticipates seven to eight commanders and around 200 to 300 delegates from ASEAN countries to attend the forum. The focus will be the regional coordination and information sharing among Coast Guard agencies.
While the agenda is not yet finalized, Marfe expects discussions to touch on the West Philippine Sea (WPS) due to its ongoing importance.
“I’m not sure but most likely it will be shared on the topics since there are concerns about our problem here in the WPS,” he said. The WPS is covered under the Coast Guard district of Palawan.
