A PAYONG-PAYONG (tricycle) driver died on the spot following a collision with a pick-up truck along the national highway in Barangay Binugao, Toril District around 7 a.m. on Friday morning, Jan. 5.
Meanwhile, the three passengers of the tricycle were brought to the Southern Philippine Medical Center for medical treatment.
Captain Hazel Tuazon, spokesperson of the Davao City Police Office (DCPO), identified the tricycle driver as Ebrahim Adsaman Cabuyam, 47.
His passengers were Barhama Sadjid Male, 51; Noel Gumaya Daya, 42; and Jenifer Malacambong Linambot, 45, all residents of Barangay Sirawan, Toril.
Meanwhile, the Ford Raptor driver was identified as Richard Comique, 38, married.
Initial investigation showed both vehicles were both heading toward Toril proper from the south occupying the middle lane. At around 7:15 a.m., the pick-up truck hit the rear portion of the payong-payong.
The impact caused the driver to fall from the tricycle and, unfortunately, was run over by the pick-up truck.
The Ford Raptor driver was brought to the Toril Police Station while the victim’s body was recovered by his family.
