THE NBA free agency 2024 kicked off with a massive signing with NBA all-star forward Paul George signing with the Philadelphia 76ers Monday afternoon.

George signed a four-year $212 million maximum contract including a player option in his final year in 2027-28. This brings him back to the eastern conference alongside MVP Center Joel Embiid and Rising Star Tyrese Maxey in pursuit of a championship.

The all-star forward and his agent Aaron Mintz met with Sixers officials and agreed on the deal.

George, a 34-year-old nine-time all-star, spent the last five years with the Los Angeles Clippers averaging 23 points, 6 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and 1.5 steals per game.

This signing gives the Sixers a versatile forward who could impact both ends of the court. George’s scoring and defensive ability offer the Sixers a reliable option in clutch situations for a deep playoff run.

Embiid, George, and Maxey were all-stars last season and now create a formidable trio that can bring a challenge to the top teams in the league.

Notable signings in the first day of free agency include Chris Paul to the San Antonio Spurs, Jonas Valanciunas to the Wizards, James Harden resigning to the Clippers, and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope to the Magic.
