A FORMER pastor recently released from the Davao Prison and Penal Farm (formerly Dapecol) was found dead with stab wounds inside his house in Upper Malungon, Barangay Malamba, Marilog District, on Sunday, Feb. 18.
Captain Hazel Tuazon, Davao City Police Office (DCPO) spokesperson, identified him as Daniel Dondal Ramos, 54.
Tuazon said Ramos was discharged from the correctional facility last Jan. 13, 2024, for sexual assault.
According to the report, Ramos was found inside the bedroom of a shanty where he stayed. He was alone in that house sitting in an isolated part of Marilog District, more or less 20 kilometers from the Marilog Police Station.
According to alias Grace, the underage niece of the pastor, she was about to clean the grass in the yard around 6 a.m. when she noticed blood from the bedroom. After noticing the body, she sought help from the pastor’s brother living 500 meters away.
The Davao City Forensic Unit immediately processed the crime scene to collect evidence to try to track the perpetrator.
Major Nelson Violan, commander of Marilog Police Station, said the motive of the incident could be a personal grudge. For now, the victim’s body lies at Angel Funeral Parlor in Calinan.
