Parents urged to control movement of their children

The regional office of the Department of Education has urged parents to ensure that their children attend their online classes and will not go out of their homes.

Jenielito Atillo, spokesman of the office, made the comment to TIMEs after Mayor Sara Z. Duterte called the attention of the office after seeing some children outside of their homes even during class hours.

“We are happy with the observations of Mayor Sara and that we have the same observation too,” said Atillo as he pointed out that two days before the mayor made the statement, Regional Director Evelyn Fetalvero issued a memorandum to all schools division superintendents to create a mechanism to address learners’ presence outside of their homes during class hours.

He added: “Pero, gihangyo sab namo ang nga ginikanan nga magplastar sab ug ilang kaugalingong mekanismo isip response sa panawagan ni Mayor Sara” he said, adding that the parents are the main people who have the control over their children as they are at home while online classes are going on.

In calling the attention of the agency, the mayor cited an area in Buhangin where “ajority sa nadakpan nato sa violators kay mga minors, mga estudyante nga wala sa balay, nag suroy-suroy sila.”
