ANOTHER more than P300,000 worth of smuggled tobaccos and shabu were intercepted by the personnel of the Task Force Davao at the Sirawan and Lasang checkpoints on July 5.

Capt. John Louie Dema-ala, the Task Force Davao spokesperson, said at around 10:35 am, the authorities arrested four individuals carrying a total of 550 reams of smuggled Canon menthol cigarettes with an estimated street value of P275,000 inside a metallic gray Toyota Fortuner with plate number LGB 881 at the Eden checkpoint in Toril.
The suspects were identified as Al-Sarif S Nuh, 22 years old, married; Alyasid S Nuh, 34, married; Jole A Arad, 45; and Juluie Jie Sahisa, 19, single, all residents of 1st Crumb St., Purok Centennial, Zone 1, Digos City.
The suspects reportedly violated Republic Act 4712, an act amending certain sections of tariffs and customs code of the Philippines.
Barely 15 minutes later, the personnel of TF Davao and Davao City Police Office arrested
Edwin Campus Duhaylungsod, 38, married a resident of Jerome St. Agdao, at the Lasang checkpoint.
He was driving a Red Suzuki Raider bearing temporary plate number 1101-798195 on the way to the city when the authorities found seven sachets of suspected shabu weighing 4.44 grams with an estimated street value of P71,040 in his possession.
Task Force Davao commander Col. Darren E. Comia lauded the diligence of the troops and the cooperation of Davaoeños in catching the suspects.
