Over P3.2-M worth of drugs seized at Calinan checkpoint

AUTHORITIES at the AFP-PNP Border Control Point in Barangay Lacson, Calinan District, Davao City, intercepted a significant amount of suspected shabu on Dec. 22, 2024, at approximately 12:20 p.m.

The suspects, identified as Ronnie, 38, of Maramag, Bukidnon, and Jeam, 29, of Balingasag, Misamis Oriental, were heading to Davao City in a rented white Nissan Navarra (plate number JAS 8041).

A search of the vehicle yielded five jumbo sachets containing approximately 474.98 grams of suspected shabu, with an estimated street value of P3,229,864. Authorities also recovered P10,000 in cash.

The seizure occurred during intensified security checks conducted by Task Force Davao (TFD) and the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) at all border control points. These operations are following Davao City Ordinance 048-22, series of 2022, which mandates enhanced safety and security measures during major events and in specified areas.

Colonel Rodrigo Mariñas Jr., commander of Task Force Davao, praised the vigilance of the TFD and DCPO personnel at the Lacson checkpoint. He said the successive drug seizures demonstrated the effectiveness of the stringent checkpoint operations in preventing illegal items from entering the city.

The confiscated evidence is now in the custody of Police Station 10 (PS10) of the DCPO for proper investigation and disposition.
