AROUND 14,000 personnel will secure the delegates of the Davao Regional Athletics Association (DAVRAA) from April 1-7, 2024, according to the Public Security and Safety Security Office (PSSO).
PSSO head Angel Sumagaysay presented the security plan to the committee chairs of the DAVRAA and stated that the deployment will average around 1,800 personnel per day, including billeting and playing venues.
Sumagaysay assessed that the security is almost 90% ready. He revealed that the security plan, traffic plan, and Disaster Risk Reduction Plan have been combined into one book and given to the DepEd to serve as a reference and guide for the delegates.
He added that team leaders for the billeting quarters and the opening and closing ceremonies have been identified and that PSSO has coordinated with security offices outside of Davao City.
City Transport and Traffic Management Office chief Dionisio Abude said their office will set up DAVRAA routes, manage parking at the UP Mindanao, and install directional signages from the Mintal entry point to UP Mindanao, deploy personnel at the billeting area and billeting venue, and escort each contingent heading to the playing venue.
Abude also said that their office has coordinated with the Traffic Group to provide additional deputized personnel for the schools/billeting areas.
The DAVRAA 2024 playing venues will be located within Davao City except for swimming, which will be held at the Davao del Norte Sports Complex.
