The City Council gave Indonesian Consulate General Berlian Napitupulu the honorary title of “adopted son of Davao.”
During the regular session on Tuesday, Councilor Pilar Braga, in her privilege speech, honored the consul general “for his highly-commendable efforts and services during his stay in the city.”
“During his term, he has rendered outstanding service which paved the way to a stronger relationship between Davao City and Indonesian built on mutual brotherhood and friendship,” she said.
The City Council is rushing to pass the resolution before Napitupulo and his wife Madame Elisabeth Ginting Napitupulu leave Davao this month.
Last Jan. 31, Napitupulo officially turned over the office to Consul Endah Rachmi Yuliarti as Chargé d’Affairs Ad-Interim of Indonesian Consulate General in Davao City.
The consul general was posted in Davao City in 2017.
During his stay, he opened his doors and hosted a number of affairs to signify stronger ties with the city and also promote Indonesian culture.
A series of Indonesian expos were also conducted by the consular office featuring Indonesian manufactured products, cuisine, food and beverage, fashion, tourism, and arts and culture.
