Oplan Baklas

THE COMMISSION on Election XI worked with the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) to enforce “Oplan Baklas,” a campaign to dismantle illegal campaign materials beginning Feb. 11, 2025.

Oplan Baklas will be conducted simultaneously in the three districts of Davao City, with designated areas and security personnel assigned for each district.

The First District, covering Matina Crossing, Ecoland, and Boulevard, will be secured by the 2nd Civil Military Command (CMFC) with support from Police Stations 2, 3, and 15.

The Second District, encompassing Bunawan, Panacan, Sasa Airport, Dumanlas, Buhangin, Agdao, Cabaguio, Governor Paciano Bangoy, and Wilfredo Aquino, will also be secured by the 2nd CMFC, with support from Police Stations 1, 4, 5, 6, 18, and 19.

The Third District, covering Task Force Sirawan and Tugbok, will be secured by the 1st CMFC with support from Police Stations 8, 9, and 17.

The DCPO urged all personnel to remain vigilant and ensure the safety and security of all personnel involved in the Oplan Baklas operation.

According to Comelec XI, the operation involved removing campaign materials outside of the designated common poster areas, such as those found on trees, poles, building walls, and public structures.

Also removed were campaign posters exceeding the size limit of 2×3 feet.

Atty. Michael Abas, Comelec XI regional election director, assured that the removed posters were not destroyed so that candidates could relocate their campaign materials to the designated common poster areas.

Currently, there are no penalties for the owners of the removed posters. However, candidates may face charges under the Omnibus Election Code for repeated offenses.
