The grand opening of the P70-billion Davao Food Terminal Complex (DFTC) will be postponed, said City Agriculturist Leo Brian Leuterio yesterday.
The actual date of opening remains uncertain though it was originally scheduled last March 15.
“Cooperatives are still doing the final setup on financials and operations as well as personnel structure,” Leuterio told Times in a message.
Another factor on the postponement is the availability of the City Mayor Inday Sara Duterte.
“(Another reason is the) final approval of the mayor to set her schedule for the opening,” Leuterio said.
Recently, the Mayor has been actively campaigning for the senatorial bets endorsed by Hugpong ng Pagbabago, a political party she chairs throughout the country.
The said complex, located at Brgy. Daliao in Toril District, had a soft-opening on October 2018.
The food terminal located in a 20-hectare property in Toril has been seen to help small and medium scale farmers by providing them a “bagsakan” that will be managed by a farmer’s cooperative which will ease the burden of farmers in looking for a market.
