Coastal road opening graced by PBBM, top execs
THE P33-billion Davao City Coastal Road will finally open to vehicles on July 1, with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. expected to grace the inauguration of segment A covering Bago Aplaya to Tulip Drive.
The inauguration was initially announced for the end of May but was pushed back as the Department of Public Works and Highways waited for confirmation on the invitation it sent to President Marcos and other Cabinet officials.
CTTMO chief Dionisio Abude said the inauguration will be held at 10 a.m. and Davaoeños can attend and witness the event.
Abude said that they held a meeting on Wednesday for a smooth opening. He expects a traffic jam near John Paul College in Ecoland, but the CTTMO has already deployed its personnel to manage the vehicles.
The CTTMO is asking motorists to be patient if they are caught in the logjam.
Meanwhile, a huge tent was already installed, and other preparations, including the deployment of personnel, have already been implemented.
The 17.78-kilometer stretch aims to unclog major highways from the south going downtown up to Agdao District. The project began construction in 2017, stretching from Bago Aplaya in the south to R. Castillo, Agdao District to the north. The project hurdled delays due to the pandemic and right-of-way issues.
