THE CITY government has extended the use of Crocodile Park as a testing site for COVID-19 for the vulnerable sectors.
“We have submitted a letter to Mr. (Sonny) Dizon (whose family owns the park) and we request [to extend] from May 17 to another six months,” said Dr. Ashley Lopez, Focal Person of the Covid-19 Task Force.
He said the management of the park has approved the request.
The city government, he said, decided to extend the use of the park after receiving positive response from the private sector about the park being a venue for swab testing because it is more spacious and has fresh air.
Initially, the city government used the park as swab testing site for drivers of public utility vehicles and delivery services for a week ending on May 8 based on Executive Order No. 18, an order that ordered for the heightened surveillance and response of Covid-19 cases.
Lopez said the park will serve as extension site to decongest the Sta. Ana Health Center, which is the main swabbing site for influenza-like illness cases.
“Dili lang siya murag drive thru but it will cater pati katong atong mga private companies nga kinahanglan i-swab as part sa atoang expanded contact tracing and surveillance,” he said.
