  • DCPO deploys 189 cops to help secure BARMM elections

THE DAVAO City Police Office (DCPO) is deploying 189 personnel to the Police Regional Office Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (PRO BAR) to reinforce peacekeeping operations for the upcoming 1st BARMM Parliamentary Elections.

According to the DCPO, the send-off ceremony will be on Sept. 9.

Ahead of their dispatch, DCPO director PCOL Peter B. Madria led a comprehensive equipment and gear check of the contingent on Saturday, Sept. 5, 2026, at the DCPO parade grounds in Camp Captain Domingo E. Leonor along San Pedro Street.

Madria personally inspected the tactical gear, personal protective equipment, and operational readiness of the 189 officers designated for regional augmentation.

During the inspection, Madria underscored strict adherence to police discipline, operational preparedness, and non-partisan professionalism as the deployment force takes on critical duties to safeguard the voting process across the Bangsamoro region.

The 1st BARMM Parliamentary Elections have been scheduled for Sept. 14 after four postponements between May 2022 and March 2026. At least 600 candidates hope to fill the 80-seat Bangsamoro Parliament.

Meanwhile, more than 2.3 million residents have registered to vote in the landmark elections.

Malacañang has declared that day a special non-working holiday to allow voting residents to go to their assigned precincts and cast their ballots.
