Obstruction of justice

  • VP Sara, FPRRD may face charges over statements allegedly defending Quiboloy: PNP

THE PHILIPPINE National Police (PNP) continues to review the statements made by personalities who defended Kingdom of Jesus Christ leader Pastor Apollo Quiboloy during the time he was hiding from authorities.

This is in line with the order of PNP Chief General Rommel Francisco Marbil to conduct a full investigation to identify and charge those who helped and hid Quiboloy with obstruction of justice.

PNP spokesperson Colonel Jean Fajardo confirmed they are currently studying the possibility of charging Vice President Sara Duterte with obstruction of justice due to her statement that Quiboloy was not in Davao because he was already in heaven.

Aside from the vice president, former President Rodrigo Duterte may also face similar charges for saying that he knew where Quiboloy was but that “it was a secret.”

It can be recalled that the PNP created a special team composed of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group and the Anti-Cybercrime Group to collect evidence against those who helped Quiboloy hide.

Quiboloy, the founder of King of Jesus Christ (KOJC) who claimed to be the “appointed son of God” is the subject of arrest warrants issued by the regional trial courts in Davao and Pasig.

The preacher is also on the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s most wanted list for allegedly orchestrating a sex trafficking operation.

A federal grand jury in California indicted him for conspiracy to engage in sex trafficking by force, fraud and coercion, and sex trafficking of children; sex trafficking by force, fraud and coercion; conspiracy; and bulk cash smuggling. A federal warrant was issued for his arrest in 2021.

Quiboloy’s camp has denied all the allegations and has decried a supposed conspiracy to tarnish his group.
