- Davao police intensify search for wanted Pastor Quiboloy
POLICE Regional Office (PRO) XI director Brig. Gen. Alden Delvo announced intensified efforts to serve the arrest warrant on Pastor Apollo Quiboloy, leader of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC), on sexual and child abuse charges.
Delvo confirmed ongoing operations by tracker teams, collaborating with the AFP’s intelligence unit, to find Quiboloy’s whereabouts.
Speaking at Wednesday’s AFP-PNP press briefing at The Royal Mandaya Hotel, he emphasized the need for “actionable intelligence” to direct targeted operations and minimize disruptions.
While unable to disclose specifics, Delvo revealed previous searches at KOJC properties in Tamayong and Island Garden City of Samal.
Delvo highlighted coordination with Quiboloy’s lawyers, allowing entry to search locations while prioritizing student safety in the Kingdom.
While not pinpointing specific locations, Delvo confirmed expanding the search beyond Tamayong, given its vast size.
He maintains his belief that Quiboloy remains in the Davao area.
Challenges and confidence in law enforcement
Delvo acknowledged Quiboloy’s high profile and extensive network as potential obstacles.
He remained confident, however, that “the long arms of the law will catch up with him.”
The regional police director expressed a desire for Quiboloy to surrender and face the court despite their past friendship.
Firearm permits and search radius
Delvo clarified that revoking Quiboloy’s 19 registered firearms is not as straightforward since it would require evidence of unlawful use.
Delvo confirmed the presence of the Office of the Senate Sergeant-At-Arms (OSSA) in Davao to enforce the arrest order for contempt. He anticipates the cooperation from Quiboloy’s lawyers to avoid a forceful arrest at KOJC establishments.
