Lady architect murdered, left behind on banana plantation’s open canal
POLICE on Wednesday said they would probe deeper into the murder of a 28-year-old woman found dumped on an open canal of a banana plantation in Purok 6, Barangay Dacudao, Calinan, around 8 a.m. on May 17.
Major Catherine Dela Rey, Davao City Police Office spokesperson, identified the victim as Vlanche Marie Laruan Bragas, 28, architect-engineer., a resident of Purok 18, Megaville, Calinan Poblacion.
Speaking on Wednesday’s AFP-PNP press briefing held at The Royal Mandaya Hotel, Police Regional Office XI director Brig Gen Alden Delvo, said they could not yet determine if the victim was raped.
“For now, the report coming from the cop (chief of police) of Calinan and city director himself, we don’t have any suspect yet,” he said, urging the public to give the investigators time to catch the perpetrator.
In a separate interview, Dela Rey said the clothes and undergarments of the victim are still intact. However, her shirt was pulled up, and her pants and undergarments were pulled down.
“Wala pa na determine ang cause of death, need pa autopsy (we need an autopsy to determine the cause of death,” Dela Rey added.
According to the DCPO report, the victim was found in a prone position covered by dried banana leaves at an open canal on the banana plantation owned by Sarbac Company.
The report added that the victim was reported missing around 12:30 a.m. and last seen on board a yellow tricycle at Crossing Fausta, Calinan District.
