No shabu lab

  • Illegal drugs confiscated locally came from other areas: DCPO

THE DAVAO City Police Office (DCPO) insisted there are no shabu laboratories despite the several operations starting on July 1 that yielded at least P7 million worth of illegal drugs.

During the Davao Peace and Security Press Corps Media Briefing held at The Royal Mandaya Hotel, DCPO spokesperson Capt. Hazel Tuazon also said no known drug lords are operating in the city.

On July 3, a businessman pointed to his stash of shabu worth P6.9 million hidden in his house in Ma-a. The DCPO arrested 13 persons from six anti-drug operations conducted on July 2-3, 2024.

Meanwhile, five individuals carrying more than P400,000 worth of drugs were arrested at the Lasang, Lacson, and Sirawan checkpoints on July 1.

Tuazon said most of the illegal substances are smuggled into the city to be sold on the streets.

“We will try our very best to locate illegal drugs and identify suspects but we’ll not be able to do it solely without the cooperation of the public, especially the local government unit,” she added

Capt. John Louie Dema-ala, Civil-Military Operations Officer of Task Force Davao told the City Information Office that the arrests were the product of the joint effort of security forces to guard the borders.

He said the arrests serve as a warning to criminals planning to bring contraband into the city.

Kung kinsa man sa ilaha ang nag plano nga magsulod og illegal diri sa Davao City, dili nalang nila buhaton kay ang atong ginabuhat ang hugot nga pagbantay sa Davao City. At the same time, aware pud ang Dabawenyo sa atong security protocols nga ginapatuman diri (For those planning to bring contraband here in Davao City, they should just stop because we have strengthened security in Davao City. At the same time, Davaoeños know the security protocols here),” he said.
