No forgiveness

SEVEN individuals involved in a brawl at Paz Eatery in Bankerohan Public Market on May 18 are not off the hook even after they already agreed to settle their differences.

Davao City Police Spokesperson Captain Hazel Tuazon said they will file a case for alarm and scandal against the suspects.

Tuazon said the five individuals involved in the fight appeared before San Pedro Police Station Commander Major Michael Uyanguren on Monday night. They apologized to each other and agreed to move on.

In a spirit of forgiveness, both parties settled the matter and pledged to undergo community service in their respective barangays.

However, the San Pedro Police will still pursue the charge, acting as a complainant in the case it will file before the City Prosecution Office under Article 155 (Alarms and Scandals) for causing public disturbance.

The crime carries a penalty of aresto menor, equivalent to one day to 30 days jail term or a fine of not more than P40,000.

Davao City Police Office director Col. Richard Bad-ang said the city will not tolerate actions compromising its safety and security.

“This incident serves as a reminder to anyone who causes trouble and disturbance in public places that such behavior not only affects their own lives but also the lives of their families,” Bad-ang said.

He said all residents and visitors are urged to be responsible and adhere to the city’s laws.
