National Bureau of Investigation XI declines to charge foreigner in NBI shirt

THE NATIONAL Bureau of Investigation XI will not pursue charges against a Lebanese national, who was photographed wearing an NBI-branded shirt at the send-off ceremony for the 39th Kadayawan sa Davao Festival on July 30.

Zouheri Ternanni’s attire gained attention on social media after he was seen talking to Davao City Police Office (DCPO) director, Police Colonel Hansel Marantan, while wearing the shirt.

NBI XI regional director Arcelito Albao clarified that Ternanni could not be legally charged as the shirt in question was not an official NBI uniform but rather a generic dry-fit shirt commonly used by various law enforcement agencies.

However, the shirt was confiscated and Ternanni was warned against wearing it again.

Recently, DCPO spokesperson Captain Hazel Tuazon confirmed that Ternanni is an active stakeholder in Davao City while Albao emphasized that he has no affiliation with the NBI.

The incident highlights the potential for misunderstanding and misrepresentation when unofficial attire resembling law enforcement uniforms is worn in public.
