A 29-YEAR-OLD motorcyclist was killed instantly after colliding with an Isuzu truck along Cabantian Road near Emilia Homes in Barangay Cabantian, Buhangin District, at around 12:15 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 13.
The victim was identified by Captain Hazel Tuazon, spokesperson for the Davao City Police Office, as Kenneth Jade Diaz, a resident of Marapangi in Toril.
The driver of the Isuzu truck was Ricky Delos Reyes, a 53-year-old resident of Bonifacio Extension.
Initial investigations showed the Isuzu truck was heading from the Cabantian-Mamay Road intersection toward the Country Homes junction, while Diaz was traveling in the opposite direction.
The collision occurred at a curve in the road, with the front of the truck striking the left side of the motorcycle.
The impact threw Diaz from his motorcycle, and he landed several meters away. His motorcycle was dragged forward by the truck.
Diaz sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. Emergency responders from Central 911 and the Barangay Disaster and Risk Reductions Management Center (BDRRMC) also attended the scene.
Both vehicles were damaged in the collision and were taken to the police station, along with the truck driver.
Diaz’s body was transported to Villa Funeral Parlor in Toril.
