Mother claims 2-week-old boy kidnapped

POLICE investigated the claim of a 26-year-old mother who alleged her two-week-old baby boy was taken by another woman at Centennial Park, San Pedro Street, on Saturday, Feb. 17.

In an interview on Monday, Major Marvin Hugos, San Pedro Police Station commander, said Jessa Mae Cumablay, a resident of New Lagog, Marilog, reported that she was with her baby at around 1 p.m. when she decided to buy a bottle of mineral water.

She reportedly asked a complete stranger, who she described as slim, wearing maong shorts and a body bag, to look after the infant for a few minutes. However, she returned to find both the woman and her baby bone.

She panicked and immediately reported the incident to the nearby police station.

The police checked CCTV cameras nearby and questioned the mother to confirm the alleged kidnapping.

Moreover, Hugos called on those with information on the whereabouts of the baby to report it to the police immediately through their hotline number 09985987057.

“[They] can call this number if they have information regarding the case,” he added.

The said infant was born at the Southern Philippines Medical Center last Feb. 3.
