THE POLICE Regional Office XI said more cities and towns in Davao Region have started enforcing a firecracker ban in their respective areas.
In a press conference on Monday, Dec. 9, Major Catherine Dela Rey, spokesperson of PRO XI, said the municipalities of Hagonoy, Sta. Cruz, and Magsaysay in Davao del Sur have followed the lead of Davao City, which prohibited firecrackers and pyrotechnics for more than two decades,
The officer added that in Davao del Norte, the cities of Kapalong, Island Garden City of Samal, and Tagum have implemented regulations on the use of firecrackers, while New Corella has a total ban.
In Davao Oriental, the municipalities of Lupon, San Isidro, Governor Generoso, Tarragona, and Boston have also implemented the ban.
In Davao de Oro, only the municipality of Laak has implemented such an ordinance.
Meanwhile, in Davao Occidental, the municipalities of Don Marcelino, Jose Abad Santos, and Boston, Sarangani have also joined the ban.
“The Police Regional Office XI hopes that more areas in the region will declare firecracker bans to ensure a safe and peaceful Christmas and New Year’s celebration,” she said.
