Lawig-Diwa Inc. in partnership with the National Commission for Culture and the Arts-National Committee on Art Galleries (NCCA-NCAG),and other art groups launches its fifth year of the Mindanao Art Fair 2023, to further strengthen the arts industry and identity in Mindanao.
The week-long event will be participated by more than 500 artists and almost a thousand artworks, the biggest gathering of artists in the island, and will take place on September 24 to October 1, at particular areas of the SM Lanang Premier, also one of its key partners.
During the PEP Talks forum on September 19, Rey Mudjahid “Kublai” Ponce Millan, one of the Mindanaoan artists, mentioned that this activity will help the art industry of Mindanao, and acknowledge the region’s identity across the Philippines and all over the world.
“MindanaoArt in its fifth year is bigger, more festive, more colorful, and becoming more
Mindanao” said Kublai. With the theme Mindanao Art in Glitch: Resonating and
Reverberating, the exhibit explores the glitch or fault that prevents something from being
successful or working as well as it should,” Kublai said.
Kublai also emphasized the the need for Mindanaoan artists to step up and
become key players in the Philippine art scene while ensuring that they remain rooted in
their identity as Mindanaoans.
Hundreds of artworks, murals and installations will be displayed at The Atrium, North Wing
Grounds, North Wing 2nd Level and the Third Level of SM Lanang, with its free admission to the public.
