The MINDANAO Development Authority (MinDA) is committed to further supporting the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) as a major potential investment hub in Mindanao.
During the MinDA Forum (MDF) press briefing on July 24, Leo Tereso Magno, MinDA Secretary, said there are a number of businesses interested in putting up projects, such as energy and agriculture-related projects in BARMM.
“BARMM is experiencing an unprecedented peace and order right now compared to BARMM many years ago, according to the data. MinDA is very much willing to assist BARMM, we have manifested our intentions to assist them,”
Magno said during the MDF discussions, it has been revealed that the employment rate and resources of BARMM are much higher than in any part of Mindanao.
“Maraming natural resources na hindi pa nagagamit. We will help to market BARMM, promoting it to more investors.
“The possibility of BARMM is very enormous and it is our role not only in the private sector, it is also our role in the government to assist all these LGUs,” he added.
In the same way, Antonio Peralta, European Chamber of Commerce in the Philippines, revealed that various companies had expressed interest in BARMM through the Bangsamoro Agri-enterprise Program.
“There are a lot of companies that are expressing interest, a number of places will be known in the next few weeks, abangan natin ito as this is a major event,” Peralta said.
In a separate report, BARMM garnered about P3.5 billion in investments since the start of 2024, surpassing their target for the year by 42%, due to its improved peace and security situation in the region.
