FROM residential to hotels, Merlgen Euro Designs, Inc. is up to the task. With more than a decade of service in the customized cabinetry business, the company continues to serve the needs of the market within Davao City and beyond.
“With the company’s experience, we are always up to the challenge, whether it’s fitting homes, offices or hospitality establishments,” said manager Honeylet Lim.
One of the latest large scale projects for Merlgen is the Rogen Inn, the newest hospitality landmark in Davao’s central business district.
“Rogen Inn tasked Merlgen to fit 328 rooms in three buildings, the management office and the service facilities, including the lobby’s unique check-in desks, with cabinetry according to the specifications of the architect and owner,” she bared.
According to Lim, Rogen Inn counts as one of the big projects Merlgen is currently undertaking, which includes fitting three condominium properties across the city to as far Cagayan de Oro. However, she confirms that Rogen is the first and biggest undertaking in the hospitality sector.
“The look we want the inn to exude is that of a business hotel’s – minimalist, uncluttered and pleasing to the eyes. We want the color in neutral shade with a relaxing tone,” said the owner of Rogen Inn.
From the extensive selection of materials displayed at the Merglen Showroom in Bajada, the owner and the interior designer singled out the Synchronized Embossed Woodgrains Laminated boards for the room’s headboard and side tables, desk and cabinets. For the bathroom, it was the white laminated plywood for the cabinets and the Crystal Black Quartz and the Absolute Black Quartz for the countertop.
“As travelers ourselves, we pay attention to details of the rooms we stay in and see which part takes the most beating,” said the owner.
One of the identified items in hotel rooms is the luggage rack. The owners specified to use a durable material for this room requirement and chose a scratch-proof quartz in crystal white color from the array of quartz offerings of Merlgen.
How arduous is the task to fit an inn of this size? Lim said that it is not that difficult because the design requirements in all the rooms are standardized. Each building has one room size and common interior design requirements. Thus, all it takes is mass producing the design.
“Our manufacturing facilities are computerized and mechanized. All the pieces are cut to precision, and all our team has to do is assemble everything manually at the site,” bares Lim.
Rogen Inn is on its soft opening and guests who have stayed in the inn like what they saw.
From the owners, Lim said, “The feedback is they are very satisfied with the craftsmanship. Merlgen has been given high rating for the first tower and they have confirmed the booking with other two towers.”
