UFC PRESIDENT Dana White announced on social media on Friday morning, June 14, Philippine time, that the anticipated UFC 303 fight between Connor McGregor and Michael Chandler had been postponed.

The event should have headlined McGregor’s return to the octagon but is now sidelined due to an injury. This will be the first time the Irish striker pulled out from a fight in his historic career.

White announced on social media that Alex Pereira vs. Jiří Prochazka for the light heavyweight title is the new main event scheduled for UFC 303. This will be their second time facing each other since UFC 295 wherein Pereira was victorious.

In addition, White added two extra fights to the card: Carlos Ulberg will now compete against Anthony Smith in a light heavyweight match, replacing Jamahal Hill, who was supposed to fight in the co-main event but is out due to an injured knee. For the co-main event, number 3-ranked Diego Lopes will take on star Brian Ortega in the featherweight division.

The UFC has not yet announced whether McGregor vs Chandler will take place at a later date.

Despite unexpected changes, UFC 303 is set to have a promising card. Fight fans can still have an exciting night of fights with Pereira vs Prochazka 2 headlining, along with the additional fights in the event.

UFC 303 will take place in the T Mobile arena in Paradise, Nevada on June 29.
