MAYOR Sebastian Duterte expressed concern about the handling of the arrest warrant against Pastor Apollo Quiboloy and his four co-accused.
He criticized the use of “excessive force” and the “unauthorized occupation” of the KOJC compound.
“We respect the implementation of any warrant of arrest as long as it is in accordance with the law,” Mayor Duterte said in a statement.
“However, we have observed that the PNP personnel led by General Marbil and General Torre are no longer following proper procedure in implementing the warrant, especially the use of excessive force against innocent citizens and their unauthorized occupation at the KOJC compound,” he added.
“As much as I want to intervene, the police personnel will only listen to the PNP chief and to their Commander-In-Chief President Bongbong Marcos,” he added.
While acknowledging the KOJC members’ right to protest, the Mayor urged them to do so peacefully and avoid disrupting traffic.
He assured the public that the city’s safety and security remain top priorities, stating: “We are committed to maintaining a peaceful and secure environment for all Dabawenyos.”
Addressing the ongoing police presence at the KOJC compound, the Mayor asked the PNP, “How long do you intend to stay at the KOJC property?”
As of this writing, the PNP’s Civil Disturbance Management team maintains a barricade around the compound, preventing entry and exit, while the operation to serve the warrant enters its fourth day.
