The call center agent who died from suspected COVID-19 tested negative after two confirmatory tests.
Mayor Sara Duterte gave the update in yesterday’s Davao City Disaster Radio.
The BPO worker has been a valued member of a call center company for four years. The worker’s condition worsened after a short hospital stay and unfortunately expired on April 8.
The customer representative already had a complicated health history even before developing respiratory ailments. But the worker had no exposure to any positive COVID-19 patients nor a history of travel to Manila or abroad.
However, quarantine protocols were still implemented to nine individuals who were exposed to the BPO personnel.
“We have implemented quarantine procedures to five of the BPO personnel’s workers who were exposed to him. Another four individuals were exposed in its lodging facilities. A total of nine individuals are undergoing quarantine despite its negative result,” Duterte said in an earlier interview.
“We have told them to have separate work areas, so (that) you are only exposed to a certain number of people. If such happening will occur, then it will only be a few of them who will be exposed and will undergo quarantine,” she said.
The mayor also extended her sympathies to the family of the BPO worker who passed away.
