A TOTAL of 182 couples said their “I dos” in the city government-organized Kasalan sa Pasko on Friday, December 13 in Almendra Gym.
City Mayor Sebastian “Baste” Duterte officiated the wedding ceremony of 120 Christians, 43 Indigenous Peoples, and 20 members of Task Force Davao, who took their vow before the mayor.
Duterte reminded the couples of the importance of loyalty and communication in the relationship, which weighs more than material things.
“Ang kaminyoon dili kinahanglan nga mogasto kag dako, o bongga kaayo. Bisan pag simple ang inyong hikay, simple ang pagkaon, pero pag uli ninyo malipayon mo nga pamilya,” he stressed.
Lynlyn Polo, 32 and Joel Gantes, 34, thanked the city government for the initiative.
“Sa among 15 years na panag-uban, nakasal najud mi, ug karong Pasko mi nagpakasal para regalo napud namo sa among kaugalingon,” the couple stressed.
Mercy Dumacon, 20, and Renegie Bangcas, 23, both Obu-Manuvu, were one of the youngest newlyweds.
“Ang tinuod nga panaghinigugmaay, dili lang about sa physical kundi ang pagsinabtanay,” the couple said.
Also present during the event were Vice Mayor Melchor Quitain Jr, city councilors Tek Ocampo, Enzo Villafuerte, Bonz Andrei Militar, Rodolfo Mande, and deputy mayors, who were principal sponsors of the newlyweds.
