- PRO XI leadership change won’t impact search for Quiboloy
THE POLICE Regional Office XI (PRO XI) assured the public that the change in its leadership would not affect the manhunt for Pastor Apollo Quiboloy, who remains at large on qualified human trafficking and child and sex abuse charges.
In a recent interview, Brig. Gen. Aligre Martinez, the PRO XI’s new acting director, reaffirmed the PNP’s commitment to the case and pledged to build upon past efforts to bring down the fugitive, the religious leader and founder of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ.
“The PNP has stood with that and not only law enforcement agencies, will be going to have details of what has been done, and, of course, we are going to inject what needs to be done,” Aligre said.
Major Catherine Dela Rey, the PRO-XI spokesperson, also confirmed the same statement during the AFP-PNP press conference held at The Royal Mandaya Hotel, on May 1.
She stated that under the guidance of the new regional director Brig. Gen. Aligre L. Martinez, the police have established “strategic guidance and tactical strategies” to apprehend wanted individuals, including Quiboloy.
Martinez replaced Brig Gen. Alden Delvo who retired from service upon reaching the mandatory age requirement of 56.
Dela Rey highlighted their recent accomplishments, including serving over 1,000 arrest warrants and apprehending nearly 300 out of 665 most-wanted persons.
On April 11, the Pasig Regional Trial Court issued an arrest warrant against the televangelist and five of his associates after finding probable cause that they violated RA 9208 or the Anti-Trafficking of Persons Act of 2003.
On April 1, the Regional Trial Court XI also issued a warrant of arrest against the pastor and five others for possible violations of Section 5 (b) and Section 10 (a) of the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act.
