THE LAND Transportation Office (LTO) XI has intensified its campaign against colorum vehicles, resulting in a significant increase in apprehensions due to the addition of deputized traffic law enforcers from the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Davao.
According to the report, authorities have apprehended 34 colorum units, which was attributed to the Department of Transportation’s (DOTr) Special Action and Intelligence Committee for Transportation initiative to deputize more PCG personnel.
LTO XI law enforcement operation chief Yuri Lim said Assistant Secretary Vigor Mendoza’s primary instruction is to target unregistered motor vehicles and colorum operations.
“In Davao City alone, we have apprehended 79 colorum vehicles since January. This includes 34 units in July alone, compared to 18 in June,” Lim said.
“We are grateful to our partners in the Philippine Coast Guard for their continuous 24/7 operations since the formalization of the DOTr’s Special Action and Intelligence Committee for Transportation,” he added.
The SAICT, comprising LTO 11, PCG, and LTFRB teams, is responsible for the 34 apprehensions this month.
Moreover, the law enforcement operation chief emphasized the collaborative efforts of these agencies in targeting colorum operations.
