LTFRB XI: Taxi flag-down rate increased to P50

THE LAND TRANSPORTATION Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) XI announced the new P50 flag-down rate for taxis, which started on Monday, Nov. 11.

Taxi drivers flocked to the LTFRB XI regional office to recalibrate their meters to reflect the new rates. Regional director Nonito Llanos oversaw the process.

According to an LTFRB memorandum dated March 18, 2024, taxi units must display an updated flag-down rate sticker on their meters.

In an interview on Tuesday, Llanos said the change of the down rate from P40 to P50 was a response to the petition of the taxi operators.

“There was a petition from taxi operators and fuel prices,” he added.

He said taxi operators who have not calibrated their meters and are charging the new flag-down rate will face penalties from the LTFRB-Davao.

Meanwhile, students, senior citizens, and persons with disabilities will continue to enjoy a 20% discount on fares.
