Coast Guard K-9 Force commander Commodore Angel Viliran awarded certificates of appreciation to the K-9 Search and Rescue Team that served in the Masara landslide in Maco, Davao de Oro, including individuals and provincial veterinarians taking care of working dogs and handlers.
This was done during the Coast Guard District South Eastern Mindanao launching of Drug-Free Workplace Policy held on Monday, Feb. 26.
The coast guard district also honored some individuals and groups that helped them during the Masara Search and Rescue Operations.
The ceremony was led by Commodore Rejard Marfe and Coast Guard K9 Force Commander Commodore Angel Viliran.
The command also launched the CGDSEM Drug-Free Workplace Policy.
Some individuals recognized were Mr & Mrs Relator (who accommodated PO2 Alfie Baba and Appa, the SAR dog during their mission), Dr. Roland Simene, the Provincial Veterinarian who took care of the other handlers and K-9 dogs Ivy, Britney and Tiffa, and the Media, Rhoda Grace Saron of Mindanao Times, Armando Fenequito of Radyo Pilipinas and PTV Davao for the unwavering support of the information campaign programs of the Coast Guard District South Eastern Mindanao, based in Km 10, Sasa, Davao city.
In his message, Commodore Viliran said there will be a graduation of the K9 force.
“We realize that anything can happen these days and our coast guard K9 has proven its worth and competence especially in the SAR operations,” he said.
“The PCG would like also to be forerunner of the SAR operations,” he added.
