- PRO XI: Three Chinese nationals, Filipino arrested in Davao del Norte
THREE Chinese nationals and a Filipino backhoe operator are detained for alleged unauthorized mining activities following a joint operation on Jan. 22, 2025, at Purok 2, Barangay Mambing, New Corella, Davao del Norte.
Police Regional Office XI director Brig Gen Leon Victor Rosete said the suspects failed to present the required permits and legal documents to justify their operations.
Authorities confiscated three backhoe units, four water pumps, and two sets of fabricated screeners.
The arrested individuals are now in the custody of the New Corella Municipal Police Station while the Mines and Geosciences Bureau XI and the Philippine National Police prepare the case against them.
This operation was a collaborative effort of the Police Regional Office XI under the New Corella Municipal Police Station, the MGB XI, the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources/City Environment and Natural Resources Office, and the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples.
Director General Rommel Francisco Marbil said the PNP is commited to protecting the country’s natural resources and upholding environmental laws.
