DAVAO del Norte 1st District Representative Pantaleon Alvarez formally filed a complaint against House Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez and other lawmakers before the Ombudsman on Monday, Feb. 10, 2025.
The complaint alleged violations of Section 3(e) of Republic Act 3019, the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act, and the falsification of legislative documents under Article 170 of the Revised Penal Code for the supposed insertions amounting to P241 billion in the enrolled 2025 General Appropriations Bill, the basis for the national budget.
Alvarez was accompanied by sensational candidate Atty. Jimmy Bondoc, Atty. Ferdinand Topacio, Atty. Raul Lambino, and the Citizens Crime Watch.
Aside from Romualdez, also named in the complaint were former House Appropriations Committee Chairman Zaldy Co, House Majority Leader Manuel Dalipe, and current appropriations committee chair, Marikina 2nd District Rep. Stella Quimbo.
As of this writing, Romualdez’s camp has not yet issued a statement on the allegations.
“The Filipino people have suffered enough. It’s time to fight back,” Alvarez said in his social media post.
“We have filed a case against powerful individuals. This is a dangerous path, but we must do this. Let us pray for the courage of those who have filed this case to hold accountable those who have erred, whoever they may be, because #EnoughIsEnough,” he added.
