THE COAST Guard District Southeastern Mindanao (CGDSEM) said it successfully ensured the safety and security of maritime travel after implementing “Oplan Biyaheng Ayos: Semana Santa 2024.”
CGDSEM chief of staff Lt. Commander Angel Tobias said all stations and sub-stations conducted rigorous patrols, inspections, and assistance operations throughout the week.
He said their efforts, including enhanced surveillance, strict enforcement of maritime regulations, and swift medical responses, contributed to:
- Reduced Maritime Incidents: Proactive monitoring and enforcement measures helped prevent accidents and other maritime security threats;
- Safe Passage for Passengers: Stringent inspections of vessels and facilities ensured adherence to safety standards, safeguarding travelers;
- Prompt Medical Assistance: Coast Guard Medical Services responded effectively to any medical emergencies on board vessels.
Coast Guard Commodore Rejard Marfe, CGDSEM commander, commended all personnel for their dedication and professionalism.
He emphasized the importance of continued vigilance to guarantee maritime safety, especially during peak travel periods.
