AN UNIDENTIFIED man carrying a gun was killed in a shootout with the police in Purok 11, Sitio Magsaysay, Barangay Catigan, Toril District, at 11:03 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 22.
According to Captain Hazel Tuazon, spokesperson of the Davao City Police Office (DCPO), said the Eden Police Station received a call from a concerned citizen informing about a man acting suspiciously while walking in the neighborhood.
The witness told police he was driving home on his motorcycle when he saw the man with a gun tucked in his waist.
The responding officers saw the man and approached him. However, he allegedly pulled out his .38 revolver at fired at the policeman, who retaliated.
He was immediately brought to the nearest hospital for medical intervention after sustaining a gunshot wound on his body but was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician. As of this writing, police are still investigating the man’s identity.
