A former intelligence officer in the region is now the new police regional director.
Acting police director general, Lt. Gen. Archie Francisco Gamboa, appointed Brig. Gen. Filmore Escobal as the acting director of the Police Regional Office (PRO) in Davao Region, replacing Brig. Gen. Marcelo Morales, effective last Sunday.
However, Morales, who served as Davao regional police chief for over a year, took over Escobal’s vacated post as director of the Police Security and Protection Group (PSPG), albeit in acting capacity.
Gamboa, once assigned as information officer in Davao Region, implemented a reorganization following the retirement of some senior police officials.
Escobal is not new in Davao because he was once assigned here as the intelligence officer. He was also designated as the Presidential Security Group intelligence officer for President Rodrigo Duterte.
Meanwhile, Brig. Gen. Vicente Danao Jr., former Davao City Police Office chief, was re-assigned as the acting regional director of PRO 4-A (Calabarzon). Before that post, he was the Manila Police District director, working in the country’s capital city.

Brig. Gen. Dionardo Carlos – Acting Director, Highway Patrol Group;
Brig. Gen. Angelito Casimiro – Acting Regional Director, PRO 2;
Brig. Gen. Edward Carranza – Acting Director, Logistics Support Service;
Brig. Gen. Bernabe Balba – District Director, Manila Police District;
Brig. Gen. Arnel Escobal – Acting Director, Aviation Security Group;
Brig. Gen. Anthony Alcañeses – Acting Regional Director, PRO 5;

Gamboa approved the movements based on the endorsement of the Senior Officers Placement and Promotion Board of the Philippine National Police.
