GCash, Sendwave offer zero transaction fees on remittance

GCash has partnered with Sendwave to help Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) and their families make the most out of their hard-earned money by offering remittances with zero transaction fees and very reasonable exchange rates.

Through the Sendwave app, OFWs can securely send money back home directly to a family member’s GCash app – without the need to fill out forms, line up, or leave to go to a bank or remittance center.

GCash hopes the partnership can address the needs of OFWs who are often faced with different challenges like homesickness and the stress of managing very tight finances, always worrying if the money they send back home is enough for their families’ day to day needs.

“One of our goals at GCash is to make Filipinos’ everyday lives better, and we are pleased to be working with Sendwave to make that a reality. OFWs work so hard while being apart from their families, so partnering with safe and convenient remittance options on the GCash app is one way to help make their ordeal even just a bit easier,” said Martha Sazon, GCash President and CEO. “By providing accessible financial services to OFWs and their Filipino families who live locally, this also brings GCash one step closer to our mission of financial inclusion for all.”

OFWs may download the Sendwave app for free and easily send remittances to the GCash wallets of their loved ones in the Philippines. OFWs just need their recipients’ mobile number and full name registered on the GCash app. Verified GCash users have an initial wallet limit of P100,000 which can be increased by improving their GScore with the continued use of GCash features.

Sendwave is currently available in the USA, Canada, UK, Spain, Italy, Ireland, Belgium, and France.

“We are very grateful to GCash for spreading our service to our kababayans around the world.

Being in the Philippines, it can be such a process to get money if you’ll go to in-person locations. Using GCash and Sendwave is much easier for both our senders and our recipients. You can send money in minutes,” said Sendwave PH manager Dan Santos. “It has been a huge favourite of our users – sending to GCash wallets. We think it really is the future of sending money for OFWs and immigrants.”

Both GCash and Sendwave strive to ensure the safety and security of the users’ funds. GCash utilizes real-time risk monitoring and risk-based authentication through face verification, OTP, and security questions for unusual transactions. GCash also coordinates closely with the Philippine National Police and implements a strict “Know Your Customer” (KYC) or customer verification process, as required by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas. Sendwave is password protected, has two-factor authorization and 256-bit encryption so all your data is encoded as it’s entered in the app.

OFWs are also referred to as the Heroes of the modern age because of their contribution to the growth of the Philippine economy. In celebration of National Heroes Day this August, first time senders from Sendwave to GCash who will use the promo code “HeroGCash” will earn an additional USD10.00 or around Php500.00 depending on forex, to be credited to their recipient’s GCash wallet.

The GCash and Sendwave apps are available for free on the Google Play and App Store.
