Four suspects intercepted at checkpoints over drugs

ILLEGAL drugs were seized from four suspects who were attempting to pass through the Lacson checkpoint in Calinan District in Lasang checkpoint in Bunawan Disrict on Saturday, April 23. 

Capt.John Louie Dema-ala, the spokesperson of Task Force Davao, identified them as Gerald Garcia, 30, married, a resident of Purok Dugso, San Pedro, Panabo City; Michael Garcia, 25, married, a resident of Purok Dugso, San Pedro, Panabo City; and, Jenelyn Masernas, 25, single, a resident of Quezon, Bukidnon.

According to the report, the suspects were on board a trailer truck with plate number MDT 609 from Valencia, Bukidnon going to Panabo City via Davao City.

Intercepted from their possessions were 11 sachets (4 medium & 7 small) suspected shabu with a total weight of 4.01 grams and an estimated street value of P70,000, a sachet of marijuana weighing around 1.21 grams with an estimated street value of P500, 9mm pistol (Llama) bearing serial number 587295 with two magazines with 14 rounds of ammunition, a .357 revolver without serial number with five round ammunition, cellular phones, and drug paraphernalia.

The suspect and pieces of evidence were immediately turned over to the Calinan Police Station for proper disposition.

Meanwhile, the joint AFP-PNP Checkpoint in Bunawan busted a public utility van (PUV) passenger for carrying marijuana.

The authorities identified the suspect as Ramon Tusoy Evangelio, 30, single, a resident of  Royal Pines, Matina, Davao City. 

Confiscated from him was 2.76 grams of marijuana with an estimated street value of P331,000. He was placed under the custody of Bunawan Police Station for proper disposition.
