Fire razes 12 homes in Davao City coastal community

TWELVE houses were completely destroyed by a fire that rapidly spread through Purok 10, Seaside Barangay Lapu-Lapu, Davao City, on Monday afternoon.

The blaze, which erupted around 2:45 p.m. on Monday, June 9, quickly escalated from a first alarm to a second alarm within just five minutes, according to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) XI.

Firefighting teams from BFP units, including Lanang Alpha, Charlie Alpha, and SPMC Alpha, swiftly responded to the scene.

They were augmented by one ambulance unit and six auxiliary groups, including the Davao City Fire Rescue Service, 911, Barangay Lapu-Lapu disaster responders, Davao Region Fire Volunteers Federation, Barangay Sasa, Davao Volunteer Fire Brigade, and Filipino Chinese Fire Fighters.

Through their collective efforts, firefighters managed to control the inferno by 3:44 p.m. and officially declared “fire out” at 5:44 p.m.

Authorities reported no casualties or injuries as a result of the incident.

As of this writing, fire investigators are still actively conducting their investigation to determine the cause of the fire and assess the total estimated damage to property.

Meanwhile, residents of the affected coastal community are now facing the challenge of rebuilding their homes, as they are staying at temporary shelter area.
