SEVENTEEN houses were ravaged by a fire in Purok 16, Barangay Crossing Bayabas, Toril, on Sunday, June 16th, at approximately 1:06 p.m.
According to Florendo Bernante, a resident of Purok 16, the fire began around 12:45 p.m. while having lunch with his family.
Bernante noticed smoke and flames coming from the neighboring house owned by Elen Bibat. He immediately evacuated his family and alerted his neighbors before calling emergency services.
Firefighters arrived promptly and extinguished the blaze by 2:52 p.m.
Fire Senior Inspector Frances Mae Sendrijas, spokesperson for the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) XI, reported that the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Meanwhile, the fire significantly impacted 19 families. Fourteen houses were destroyed, while three sustained partial damage.
The estimated cost of the fire damage is P166,250.
