FOLLOWING the Stellar Fashion Gala media sneak peek last March, the Davao Fashion and Design Council Foundation, Inc. officially signed a memorandum of understanding with Discovery Samal last June 14 to mark the official launch of the gala event aimed at promoting the local fashion industry.
“We look forward to this unforgettable gala that will celebrate the creativity and craftsmanship of our local designers while supporting a very good cause,” DFDCFI president Emi Englis said.
Stellar Fashion Gala, scheduled on Sept. 28 at the resort’s Caracoles Convention Hall, will showcase exquisite organic materials from all over Mindanao, as well as those from various weaving communities, such as the b.LOOM Project (Beyond the Loom) Weaving Communities (fiber-to-yarn-to-fabric transformation and the bamboo, pineapple leaf, and silk textile products of the Philippine Tropical Fabrics) through the Mindanao Trade Expo Foundation.
Also present during the MOU signing ceremony were DFDCFI vice president Edgar Buyan and treasurer Benjie Panizales, Discovery Samal director of sales and marketing Leilani Merilo, associate director of finance Elsa Masirag, and general manager Stanley Lau, who represented the resort.
“We are truly honored to collaborate with the DFDCF for this gala. This event not only aligns with our vision of supporting local artists and culture but will also showcase our resort as a premier venue for big-scale events,” said Lau.
The event aims to raise funds that will benefit traditional and emerging creative communities, with a focus on marginalized creatives and artisans, including persons with determination, persons deprived of liberty, indigenous artisanal communities, and urban women and children in halfway homes.
