- Private school suspend classes for after anonymous ‘bomb’ report
A CATHOLIC school along Cabaguio Avenue in Davao City suspended classes following a report of a bomb inside the campus around 7 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 14.
The 7:48 a.m. statement released by the school’s management revealed that all classes would be conducted “online asynchronous.”
Personnel of the Bajada Police Station and the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit cleared the alleged bomb threat after sweeping the entire premises at around 8:55 a.m.
According to Captain Hazel Tuazon, spokesperson for the Davao City Police Office (DCPO), a staff member had called for assistance after receiving the report via phone and the ominous message through the school’s Facebook Messenger at around 8:55 a.m.
The chat message, shared by the DCPO to reporters, read: “I’ve heard some students kanina around 4 p.m., 4 boys sila and I don’t know their strands nor their names. But I overheard them having a conversation that they already planted something explosion and will bring another tomorrow. Please tell the guards to check the student’s bags carefully for caution and safety in case it’s true.”
The Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit declared the area safe by around 10:30 a.m.
