AN ALLEGED fake dentist was arrested by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Davao del Norte Provincial Field Unit (CIDG-DNPFU) on Saturday, March 2 at Park View Inn, Purok Tindalo, Barangay Magugpo Poblacion, Tagum City.

The CIDG-DNPFU conducted a joint operation with the Tagum City Police Station and representatives of the Philippine Dental Association-Davao del Norte.
Authorities received a report that the 25-year-old Ventura was caught in the act of practicing dentistry without a permit, prompting the police operation.
Confiscated from the possession and control of the suspect were 16 packs of archwires; eight packs of orthodontic brackets (Used); five packs of orthodontic brackets (unused); three packs of mouth retractors; 100 pieces of Ortho Band (assorted colors); three packs of applicator tips; Light Cure Machine w/ adopter; mouth mirror; two pieces Explorer; and two cotton flyers.
Further seized were three pieces of cutters; three Etchant (Dental Etching Gel); three orthodontic adhesives; two bottles of orthodontic adhesive (Primer); one roll of Ortho wire; 12 rolls of elastic bands; tackle box; and disposable gloves with a total estimated cost of P28,000.
The apprehended suspect is now under the custody of CIDG-Davao del Norte for the filing of a case for violation of Republic Act NO. 9484- Phil. Dental Act (An Act to Regulate the Practice of Dentistry, Dental Hygiene and Dental Technology in the Philippines).
“The CIDG-DNPFU with its relenting efforts to their mandates reminded the public not to patronize this illegal practice of dentistry that might compromise their health and reprimanded those practicing this to stop and must know and acknowledge the laws governing this profession,” Driz said.
“Many complaints have reached our office and we had just to do our part as law enforcers,” she added.
