PLDT ENTERPRISE and ePLDT aimed to expand their VITRO data centers and cloud services to provide more end-to-end solutions to businesses in the Philippines.
During their press forum on May 14, Reggie Regino, ePLDT chief sales and vice president, said they will establish their 11th hyper-scaler-ready data center in July, situated in a 5-hectare property in Sta. Rosa, Laguna with around 50 megawatts capacity.
“We are not stopping because we know that people are investing, people are moving to the cloud. Even with the advent of artificial technology (AI), when you have AI, the computing power increases so you need more data centers,” Regino said.
PLDT Enterprise, the B2B division of the PLDT Group, showcased robust performance in the first quarter of 2024, with net service revenues reaching ₱12.1 billion. This growth was fueled by strong momentum in corporate data and ICT. ICT revenues rose 13% year-on-year underpinned by growth in Cloud Services, Managed Services, and Cybersecurity Solutions.
Gilberto Calixto, head of PLDT Enterprise Customer Relationship Management in Mindanao, also shared the company will double the 10 facilities; a capacity of 50 megawatts once the VITRO Sta. Rosa opens in July.
He also mentioned businesses helped by ePLDT in Mindanao to safeguard their data outside the city, such as RD Pawnshop, and educational institutions like Holy Cross of Davao College, Davao Medical School Foundation, and Holy Cross of Davao College.
Regino added that the 12th data center will soon be established by 2028.
In a statement, ePLDT, the ICT subsidiary of the PLDT group, established VITRO Inc., the data center arm of the PLDT Group, to ensure a deliberate focus on digital infrastructure build and to further accelerate the growth of its data center business which ended the quarter strong with over 5,600 data center racks and an occupancy rate over 70%.
